Barolo DOCG Ceretta 2022 - Limited Edition

Nebbiolo, the quintessential grape variety of Piedmont, finds one of its most noble and long-lived expressions in the Additional Geographical Mention (MGA) Cerretta, in the Municipality of Serralunga d'Alba. The vineyards are located at approximately 320 meters above sea level with a south/south-west exposure, on marly-calcareous soils typical of the Sant'Agata Fossili Marls, one of the oldest geological formations in the Langhe, capable of giving the wine a powerful yet refined structure. The Guyot training system ensures optimal canopy management and controlled yield per plant, enhancing the quality of the grapes at the expense of quantity. The harvest takes place in October, strictly by hand in 20 kg crates, when the grape cluster has reached full phenolic and aromatic maturity. In the cellar, the grapes are destemmed and crushed, followed by a traditional maceration in concrete tanks lasting 20 days, essential for the extraction of color, tannins, and aromatic complexity. Aging continues for 36 months in large Slavonian oak barrels, which progressively round out the tannic structure while preserving the varietal identity of Nebbiolo, before bottling in June 2025. Barolo Cerretta has a ruby red color with garnet reflections, with a rich and enveloping nose of ripe cherry, dried rose, spices, rosemary, and pepper. On the palate, it is full-bodied and structured, with persistent tannins and a long, austere, and elegant finish. Before serving, decanting for at least an hour is recommended to fully appreciate its qualities. It is a meditation wine, ideal with red meats, game, and aged cheeses, also pleasant at the end of a meal.
